5 Ways to stop the struggle

5 ways to AVOID vocabulary-learning-burnout! (is that even a word?)⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

I hear a lot of 'my' engineers say that they get so bored + frustrated when they try to learn new technical terms (De: Fachtermiologie), and I want to tell you I GET IT.

I am here to drop some knowledge bombs to make sure that struggle stops here because no one needs to struggle with that!⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

💥 Start using new words IMMEDIATELY! Write + speak whole sentences with those tech terms. Studies show that we need to use a word up to 17times before we finally store it in our 'passive' knowledge corner of the brain. Even more often before we start using it actively. (see my posts about 'self-talk')⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

💥 Sticky notes. Those small, yellow pieces of paper with a re-adherable strip of glue? Worth gold. Use them as wallpaper. Your office, your home, your everything should be plastered with new vocabulary! Ugly? Yes. Working? Also yes.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

💥 A lot of tech terms are super logical. Try to find the logic in it. Visualize the meaning of the individual parts (e.g. 'slash hammer' - ask yourself, what does 'to slash' mean?).⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

💥 Tell others about it. Not only are you actively using the new vocabulary (see pt.1) you are also explaining language structure to others (see pt.3). Win-win.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
