English for Engineers

Technical English training built by an engineer, for engineers

You’re already an expert in your field. Let’s make sure your English sounds like it.

Trusted by engineers from four continents.

You’re an expert in your field, well-known and respected. But there is one nagging problem…

Coordinating 42 different projects at the same time, you are thinking:

  • It’s just an email! Why does it take me so long to write it in English?
  • I wish there wasn’t so much miscommunication in this project—that costs us so much valuable time.
  • I wish I could argue as well in English as in my mother language.

One reason why Technical English courses haven’t worked for you (or maybe a few)

  • You haven’t found a Technical English course that gives you the personalized advice you need.
  • No matter how many online articles you read about Technical English, you always end up feeling ‘not good enough‘.
  • You don’t even know where to start. Grammar, pronunciation, vocabulary. It’s all a blur.
  • Or maybe even all of the above?

Are you sitting there nodding your head or leaning in closer to your screen as you read this, thinking: “Umm, Olivia, have you been reading my mind?”

If so, it’s time to take a look at our Systems + Solutions.

I am in regular contact with customers. As a result of Olivia’s tutoring, my confidence grew, and therefore our customer service significantly improved.

I’ve taken various types of English classes at Marcode and look back on enjoyable and informative lessons. My English skills have noticeably improved. I was able to direct the lessons myself, which meant they were well-suited to my needs.

Process Engineer, the Netherlands

Olivia is a great English teacher! I enjoyed my sessions with her. Olivia’s approach is really different from that of more traditional English teachers.

Liesbeth S.
Managing Director, the Netherlands

The lessons I had with Olivia were excellent, no traditional lessons, but a group course with fun atmosphere, with great examples and great cultural experience, I recommend it!

English for Engineers: Group Courses

Group Offers

Learn alongside other engineers, in a structured programme

The Fast + Furious Edition — a 10-week Technical English course for ambitious engineers. Most engineers were never taught how English really works. This course explains the system behind Technical English and shows you how to apply it in real situations: emails, meetings, and everyday communication. Best if you already work in English and want to sharpen it.

The Convo Club — effective conversational training to maintain your English proficiency. Use it or lose it, the saying goes, and it’s true for language too. Regular, structured speaking practice in everyday professional situations, so you stay fluent, sharp, and ready for the next international meeting. Available at different proficiency levels.

English for Engineers: 1-on-1 Coaching

Self-paced Learning

Templates, eBooks, and online courses

Some engineers like to talk it out. Others prefer to figure it out solo. These resources are for the second kind: practical, structured, and ready when you are. No calls, no scheduling.

Emails for Engineers — a template package for the messages you write most often.

Report Writing — an eBook on structuring technical reports that get read.

Fast-Track to Fluency — a short online course on Udemy. Stop translating in your head and start speaking in chunks, so you can keep up in fast meetings.

English for Engineers: Corporate Training

Companies & Universities

Tailored programmes and workshops for engineering teams

Your engineers already know their field. The gap is usually communication across sites, time zones, and first languages. Programmes are built around your team’s actual work: the projects they run, the meetings they sit in, the reports they write.

Team training — group programmes and workshops, scoped to what your engineers need.

One-on-one coaching — individual support for specific people on your team.

University guest lectures — seminars for engineering and graduate students, hosted in Mexico, Colombia, and Germany.

Everything runs online by video, so it works for teams spread across locations.

Meet Marcode

The engineer behind your Technical English training

The name Marcode comes from Ode (a.k.a. Olivia) and Marc (Marcus, my geeky sidekick of 20+ years) — the two of us cooked it up years ago. These days it’s me: a civil engineer and certified English teacher who spent years working out how engineers actually learn Technical English.

Olivia is the first teacher I’ve ever had that taught me enough in a course that I didn’t feel like I need lessons forever.
