Giving presentations like a pro
Jul 26, 2021How often do you feel stuck when it comes to presenting technical findings or progress reports on one of your projects?
Annoying, right? I get it, and I want to let you in on three tips today that can completely change your performance as you help your listeners to arrive at the correct solution (all by themselves).
Say goodbye to guesswork and hello to being ACCURATE and CONVINCING.
TIP 1: Consult reliable sources. If you refer to scientific facts, a personal experience, or other supporting evidence, check in advance and make sure your source is trustworthy.
TIP 2: Use those sources properly. Quote facts in harmony with their context. Use those sources in accord with the original context and the intent of the writer.
Do not overstate or exaggerate facts + figures. Make sure 'some people' doesn't become 'the majority of ppl'. And 'in some cases' doesn't become 'always'. Or 'possibly' doesn't become 'properly'.
TIP 3: Reason on the evidence. After citing a source, ask questions or illustrate the point to help your audience draw their own conclusion.
